Apprenticeships and Traineeships Program

Launch or grow your career while you work and learn at the same time through an apprenticeship or traineeship with Lead College in Sydney. Apprentices and trainees combine paid employment with formal training to gain a nationally recognised qualification and real, job-ready skills.

Lead College is an approved Smart and Skilled NSW training provider, delivering apprenticeship and traineeship programs across a range of high-demand industries in the Sydney region.

Who can do an apprenticeship or traineeship?

Apprenticeships and traineeships are designed for people who are employed and want to gain a formal qualification while they work. They may suit:

  • School leavers starting their first job
  • Existing workers who need a qualification for their current role
  • People changing careers into one of our approved industries

To be eligible for subsidised or fee-free training under Smart and Skilled, you generally need to meet NSW Government eligibility criteria (for example, being 15 years or older and living or working in NSW, plus citizenship or visa requirements). Exact eligibility and fees will be confirmed individually before enrolment.

How it works with Lead College

Step 1 – Enquire and discuss your goals

You (and your employer, if you are already working) contact Lead College to discuss your job role, goals and the most suitable qualification.

Step 2 – Confirm eligibility, funding and fees

We check your Smart and Skilled eligibility, explain possible fee-free or subsidised training options, and confirm fees and payment arrangements before you enrol.

Step 3 – Training contract and Training Plan

You, your employer and an Apprenticeship Network Provider arrange and sign a training contract (if required). Lead College then works with you and your employer to develop an individual Training Plan that sets out what you will learn, how and when.

Step 4 – Training and assessment while you work

Training and assessment are delivered through agreed methods such as workplace visits, workshops, online learning and on-the-job tasks, depending on the qualification and your workplace.

Step 5 – Ongoing support and completion

Your trainer monitors your progress, provides feedback and support, and updates the Training Plan as needed. When all units are successfully completed and workplace requirements are met, you receive your nationally recognised qualification.
